The Regent

The Regent is one of those places that feels like part of Murwillumbah itself. Built in 1947 and beautifully restored, the Art Deco cinema has been part of the town's cultural life for more than 75 years, and today it's as much a performance space and meeting place as it is a cinema.

Inside are 300 traditional tiered seats, modern projection and surround sound. The program moves easily between blockbuster releases, independent and arthouse films, cult favourites, live performances and community events. The café and bar make it just as easy to meet for a drink before a screening as it is to linger afterwards. Come for the film; there's a good chance you'll stay for everything around it.
