Murwillumbah already has most of what a good night needs.

There's a heritage cinema, live music rooms, galleries, good food, old pubs and a main street that looks its best after dark. What it hasn't always had is a reason for people to stay in town once the shops close, or an easy way to find out what's on.

Murwillumbah After Dark is here to change that.

WHAT IT IS

Murwillumbah After Dark is a local initiative that aims to give the town a busier, better connected night. That means more reasons for people to arrive, stay later and find out what's happening after sunset.

It isn't a single festival, and it isn't a gig guide. It's a way of connecting what the town already does well: the films at the Regent, a band at The Citadel, an exhibition at M|Arts, trivia at the pub, dinner somewhere good. Put them together and a night out becomes easier to plan and more worth the trip.

WHY

A town's night matters. It keeps venues open, gives artists and musicians a place to play, and gives locals and visitors something to do after 5pm besides going home.

Murwillumbah has the venues, the people and the character for it. Murwillumbah After Dark adds the momentum: one name, one calendar, and the occasional weekend when the whole town takes part.

HOW IT WORKS

We don't run the night. The town does.

Local businesses, venues, artists and creatives make things happen. We help people find them, bring them together under one banner, and create moments like Town Takeover, where the whole town opens up at once.

Some nights will be big. Most will be ordinary nights with a little more on. Both count.

WHO’S BEHIND IT

Murwillumbah After Dark is delivered by Business Murwillumbah, the town's business chamber.

It is funded by the NSW Government through the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, as part of the Regional Night-Time Economy Program.

It sits alongside Wander Into Wonder, Murwillumbah's place brand, as its evening side. It's the same town, just later.
