Riverview Hotel
Cross the river to South Murwillumbah and the name tells you most of what you need to know. The Riverview sits directly on the Tweed River, and that's still its greatest asset: a deck where it's very easy to lose an afternoon and find yourself staying for the evening.
It's been part of South Murwillumbah for generations. Historic records identify it as the former Railway Terminus Hotel, which fits its spot near the old railway precinct, and photographs of the hotel survive from at least the 1920s. Today it's a traditional Australian pub with a waterfront deck, bistro, accommodation, live entertainment and big-screen sport. It also sits opposite the entrance to the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, so it's a natural stop between South Murwillumbah and the CBD.
